i have moved!
I’ll see u when I get there :) September 26, 2008
I woke up to an SMS from one of my cousins telling me that my grand-aunt just passed away. His message was calm and peaceful. Guess we all know where she’s going and I’m glad she didn’t really have to suffer that much.
One time when I visited her in the hospital, she told me serenely that she wouldn’t blame God in whatever circumstances she is in because she knows He’ll carry her through. She even shared her testimony with me about God healing her: she was in church and she told God that if God could heal her, she would believe in Him. True enough, to cut the story short, she was healed. She had no pains in her leg and she was amazed.
She then continued going to church and well, grew in faith. Honestly, I wouldn’t imagine that she would turn to Christ but she did. She used to tell my cousin off when he asked her whether she wanted to visit his church. And I guess God really works in the most mysterious ways sometimes. And while having breakfast with Mr Ex, he also told me that sometimes cannot fanthom what God does.
But nonetheless, I’ll see u in heaven KP3 🙂
have you lost something today? August 12, 2008
got this off a friend’s facebook entry…
The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.
Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.
Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.
I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.
I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.
—Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident
the art of losing’s not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.
My birthday trip to Phuket April 22, 2008
For some reason, I’m unable to avoid Thailand. After two trips to Bangkok, this time round, I found myself going back – this time to Phuket, since I haven’t been there before. It was a pretty impromptu trip if you were to ask me but oh well, whatever rocks my socks 😛
ANDDDDD for some other reason, I decided to travel on my birthday once again. The last time it was New Zealand, and the previous time…hahaha Oh well, that’s beside the point. The point is I WENT TO THAILAND AGAIN, Phuket to be exact. A few things to be learnt in this trip, which I would elaborate in my post. One thing for sure, I wouldn’t go back to Patong (one of the beached in Phuket) because it is too…touristy. More photos later and u’ll understand!
On the first day of the trip, Lionel was so gracious to give us a lift to the airport after the church service. Thanks dude! Owe ya one!
We managed to arrive pretty early so we loitered around and made our way from the first terminal (T1) to the second terminal (T2). Changi Airport’s really…HUGE now. And we even realised we didn’t have to even take the stupid monorail from T1 to T2, we could walk! Amazing I tell you.
Us , waiting to “rush” in.
That’s what I hate about Budget, especially those that, well, require you to “rush” for a seat because it’s free-seating
Us once again… Karena was having a well-deserved shut-eye while, I stoned away…wait, maybe clicked away is more appropriate a phrase. 🙂
It’s one of my first few times (that I can remember) seated next to the window, so I took the opportunity to snap a few shots. The clouds are sooo pretty ! Heaven’s gonna be so much prettier than this I reckon! 🙂
Okay, enough of talking about the Changi Airport. We landed safely (thank God) at Phuket. Some Thais persuaded us to get a ride from them (of course we had to pay them). We ended up making a stop at this travel package store before they drove us to our destination. The Thais are very enterprising – they went through with us the various islands to visit and we ended up buying a package to visit two islands on our second day in Phuket. I mean it’s really killing two birds with one stone – driving us to our destination AND selling packages to tourists who are silly enough to buy them. Tip 1: In Phuket, walk around, do your window shopping before settling on any package. You can even bargain with the stalls along the street for a MUCH cheaper rate. I guess the only good thing that came out of it is that we settled our second day in Phuket. If you do want a fuss-free trip, you could always consider this Travel Agency because they deal with hotel, tour, transportation, air ticket and excursion reservations.

This is Ms Vanida (Kate) from the Travel Agency, negotiating with us.
I made quick friends with the couple from Hong Kong behind us. I couldn’t help but say hi to them when they were conversing in Cantonese. I also made friends with a heavy smoker from Dubai (and his scary looking brother). Why do i say that? I could smell him from where I was sitting in the van. Anyway that’s beside the point. It’s always nice making friends and talking crap to them, oh oh and of course most of the time I can always tell them about Singapore 🙂
By the time we ended up at our pitstop, the van was so quiet because it looked like a really dodgy lane that led to our hotel. It looked quite bad that the Dubai fella actually turned to me and said “I would like to highly recommend the Patong Resort”. That scene was SOOOO funny! Well on hindsight, I could understand where the Dubai dude came from because right opposite our hotel/motel (or mhotel) was… well judge for yourself in the following photo
Easy easy???? Which sane person would call their institution,…easy easy???
First impressions-wise, well, the mhotel was…decent. That’s the only word I can cough up. I mean it had the basic facilities. It had a toilet, a pool, two springy beds, … wait, that’s all. Really, we got what we paid for. For SGD70 per night, we got what we paid for.
We got the very basics
The view from where we were
After settling into our humble mhotel, with our trusted map (we really looked like tourists) and Karena’s instinctive good sense of direction, we ventured out gingerly away from our mhotel.
We arrived at Patong Beach – the main beach of Phuket. It was almost dusk and the crisp tanned Thais were clearing up. It was a lovely sight – the sun was gleaming down on the crowd. The sunrays trying its best to prey, catch and burn sleepy victims unaware but it was to no avail because it was quickly turning dark.
One thing we did in time – Parasailing! We managed to catch the last slaps of sunlight and a greaaaaat sunset while parasailing. It was pretty pricey though, for less than 10 minutes. We paid 900bt EACH for parasailing into the sunset. I guess one thing that I treasured was the fact that we caught a beautiful sunset while gliding across the main parts of Patong Beach.
After expressing we wanted to parasail, the Thais wasted no time. They set my up in a span of 2 minutes and swept me off my feet literally.
The view from up there!
They promptly got Karena set up once I touched down and off she went!
After that almost instant Adrenalin-fix, we walked around some more. This ad for some reason just doesn’t make sense. No wonder everyone’s speeding like some maniac!
On the second day we woke up bright and early to make our way to the jetty. Well it was not exactly that bright, it just sounded nice to say bright and early. In fact it was pouring by the time the van picked up its last passenger. We travelled in the van for almost an hour before stopping at the jetty, where all the tourists congregated. The tourists were separated into different tour groups and we were introduced to our respective tour guides.
The whole group was given a prep talk before proceeding to our boats
We belong to the pink heart group!
Our guide giving us a talk while we travelled.
First stop – Phi Phi Le Island. As you can see it’s EXTREMELY crowded. We were given half an hour to swim and take photos. Seriously it’s so crowded, you probably can’t take a good scenic photo. Anyway Karena and I took a quick dip before heading back up to the boat.
On our way to the other Phi Phi island, the guide brought us into …
